Self-Catering for Guests with Disabilities
Lodge 5 at Birchbrae has been enhanced to provide a number of facilities for guests with mobility difficulties. It has all the luxurious features of the other six lodges but in addition has a number of wheelchair friendly adaptations. Lodge 5 has been assessed by Visit Scotland to be Category 3 (access for those with mobility impairment). Please click here for more details.
There is parking directly outside the lodge and full ramp access into the single storey disabled accommodation. The accommodation itself is spacious and has ample room for manoeuvring in a wheelchair or with sticks/crutches. Note that Lodge 5 may not be suitable for all types of electric wheelchairs or electric scooters. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Two of the three bedrooms have wooden floors for ease of movement and one has an en suite bathroom. This has a toilet with grab rails and a low-level wash hand basin with wheelchair access.
The separate shower room has a shower friendly wheelchair or stool provided which can be used in the wheel-in shower.
The verandah has been enlarged to provide ample space for 
both sitting and access. The lodge is a no smoking lodge (internally) and pets are welcome. Smoking is permitted on the outdoor covered verandah.
Birchbrae provides the ideal opportunity for those with a disability to have a luxurious self-catering break near Glencoe and Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland.
Whilst lodge 5 is perfect for disabled holiday accommodation, it has been designed with inclusivity in mind so is also suitable for able bodied guests.
Please note lodge 5 has two bathrooms both with showers. There is no bath in this lodge.
